Did you crank the reflections up to 8 for this? I've been experimenting with them a bit but they don't seem to be really noticeable on anything that doesn't involve spheres of some sort.
Reflections can be difficult to pull off. Raising the "spec" value should make them more visible. I believe I set the value to 1.5 for this image. There also has to be something to be reflected in the object. So consider what's behind the 'camera'.
I was referring to the number of times an object is reflected, but raising the spec seems to be helping out a lot as well. I think the problem was that the render I was doing didn't really have any flat surfaces, so there was nothing that could effectively serve as a mirror. I uploaded an example of a pretty standard Mandelbox variation with eight reflections to my account and it seems to work pretty well.
